About us

NewTexEco is a research community of five professorships that have been engaged in research on sustainable textiles for decades: Fashion and Tactical Design of ArtEZ University of the Arts, Sustainable & Functional Textiles of Saxion, Fashion Research & Technology and Fashion Identity of Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. Together with around 30 industry partners, we work towards a sustainable, circular and regenerative textile sector.

Vision and mission

Organisation

NewTexEco’s core team consists of Perica Savanovic (ArtEZ + leading lector NTE), Lianne van Roekel (ArtEZ, programme manager), Daniëlle Bruggeman (ArtEZ/Radboud professor), Jens Oelerich (Saxion professor) and Troy Nachtigall (HvA professor). Together, they are responsible for the entire NewTexEco programme.

Steering Committee

The Programme Team works under the mandate of a steering committee that oversees, monitors and, if necessary, adjusts the programme at the strategic level, and provides solicited and unsolicited advice. The steering committee has the responsibility to ensure commitment and support for NewTexEco’s activities within education and the work field. The steering committee consists of people with decision-making power within their organisations to guarantee policy and activities resulting from NewTexEco within the universities of applied sciences. The steering committee has three representatives from the universities of applied sciences and two on behalf of the industry partners. Chairman of the steering committee is Frank Kresin (HvA).

Research groups

Five professorships, or research groups, from Saxion, ArtEZ and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA) are contributing to NewTexEco. These are the professorships Fashion (ArtEZ), Design (ArtEZ), Sustainable & Functional Textiles (Saxion), Fashion Research & Technology (HvA) and Fashion Design & Identity (HvA).
