José Teunissen

José Teunissen will be appointed interim Dean of the Faculty of Digital Media and Creative Industries (FDMCI) with effect from 1 May 2026. José started as a director of the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) in 2023, where she also holds the position of Professor by Special Appointment of Fashion & Identity. Previously, she was dean of the School of Design and Technology at the London College of Fashion (UAL), and Professor of Fashion Theory, focusing on the transformational impact of Fashion Tech. In that context, she was the principal investigator of five European-funded projects (ArtCherie, E4FT, FT Alliance, DeFINE, The transformation of the Turkish Apparel Industry). She also worked as a freelance fashion curator. She is currently a board member of IFFTI (International Federation of Fashion Technology Institutes), IAF (International Apparel Federation), and chair of the Supervisory Board of State of Fashion.

José brings more than thirty years of experience in research and education in higher professional education. As a Professor by Special Appointment at ArtEZ, she was closely involved in the development of the creative industries in the Netherlands.
