Shape the Digital Product Passport for textiles

In addition to the Industry Living Lab workshop series, such as the one held on 13 April 2026, the Molecular Digital Physical Product Passport Project (M-DPP project) is conducting a Delphi Stakeholder Consultation – a structured, multi-stage process designed to form an informed picture of what Digital Product Passports actually require in practice within the textile value chain. The Delphi method brings together a diverse group of experts in a series of focused rounds, allowing the field to work towards shared insights while revealing where substantial differences of opinion remain. For the M-DPP project, this consultation is part of the broader co-design process: we want to understand what compliance looks like in day-to-day practice – not in theory, but in the reality of the field.

From 2027, a first set of information will become mandatory in every product passport for textiles sold in the EU. The consultation is not about whether this should happen – that is a given – but how it can be realistically implemented. The five topics covered are composition and chemical safety, traceability in the value chain, recyclability, packaging and environmental impact.

We invite professionals from across the textile sector to participate in the panel, including value chain actors (brands, retailers, manufacturers, processors and raw material producers), circularity and end-of-life specialists (collectors, sorters, recyclers, repair and reuse services), technology and data experts (DPP platform providers, certification bodies, consultants) and representatives from policy, research and the civil society field (governments, industry associations, NGOs and researchers). As part of the project, we have developed a “DPP Readiness Compass” questionnaire that helps you understand how ready your organization is in the DPP implementation. The results will be used to showcase how relevant the support to SMEs is in the road towards a digitalized textile ecosystem. Please fill in form.

No specific expertise is required – your perspective from the industry is most valuable.

The consultation consists of three rounds.
Round 1: you will share your insights and experiences via a short questionnaire on the five mandatory DPP themes. The research team will summarise all responses and bring the key themes to the third Industry Living Lab workshop on 13 April.
Round 2: the findings are translated into clear statements and fed back to the full panel for review and reflection.
Round 3: a final short round identifies where consensus has been reached and where meaningful differences of opinion remain. The outcomes are used directly in the design of the M-DPP system.
