NewTexEco at Munich Creative Business Week

On 14 May 2023, NewTexEco presented at the Munich Creative Business Week (MCBW). The presentation was part of an extensive programme put together by CreativeNL in cooperation with NewTexEco, Modepartners025, Creatief Arnhem and with the cooperation of a number of designers and the Dutch Design Foundation. Titled ‘The design-based approach to co-creating with nature’, the focus was on the role of design for the major transitions in the energy and textile sectors.

On behalf of NewTexEco, Jeroen van den Eijnde, lector and programme leader of NewTexEco, gave an introduction to the main features of the research community: collaboration and co-creation, transdisciplinary research, education and the role of design as an important pivot in collaboration in value chains and the quintuple helix (academia, governments, industry, citizens and nature).

Afterwards, two NewTexEco partners presented their projects that matched the theme of the MCBW: How to co-create with nature. Anne Boermans of Zeefier gave participants insight into the opportunities and challenges for natural textile dyeing. Textile and architecture studio Samira Boon did the same for the project BIOFOLD: sustainably and circularly designed textile acoustic panels.

Together with the workshop participants, a SWOT analysis was made for further development of these projects.
