Make Your Own Jeans Workshop

In this specialist workshop, you will be introduced to all facets of denim: its historical development, its material properties and its significance within sustainability, circularity and innovation. Under the guidance of our experienced master tailors, you will go through the entire process of making jeans; from material selection to carefully finishing the final seams.

Previous experience is not required. We provide all materials and supplies; participants need only attend with an open and interested attitude. Coffee and tea will be available.

Still unsure? Get inspired by participant Jan ter Heijde, who shares on his blog Textielliefde how he experienced the workshop! Jan begins: “Creating a well-fitting pair of jeans in just three days under guidance. Is that possible? Yes, it is, and I experienced it myself at Denim City Amsterdam.”

This workshop is part of the Care & Repair research project, which focuses on extending the life of clothes: one of the most effective ways to reduce the ecological impact of fashion. We ask you to document your experiences with the jeans during the time, for example in the form of a short diary or a photo summary; the form is up to you.

In October 2026 and 2027, we invite you to bring back your jeans temporarily for a special exhibition. Don’t worry: after the exhibition, you will of course get them back.
