SaXcell

SaXcell, a spin-off of Saxion University of Applied Sciences, makes high-quality textiles from used textiles in a newly established production facility. Old cotton fibres will be converted into new cellulose fibres called SaXcell through a sustainable recycling process.

SaXcell is a collaboration between Saxion University of Applied Sciences, the five inventors, Sympany, WeVoTex and three Turkish textile companies: Ugurlular, Modeko and Selin Tekstil. With the signing, all parties are co-owners of SaXcell B.V. Each shareholder accounts for part of the textile production chain. Together, they create a circular process from post-consumer textiles to recycled textiles. SaXcell was founded in 2015 by Saxion and the researchers behind the knowledge to make this fibre.

The uniqueness of the SaXcell fibre is that its quality is better than that of its starting material, cotton fibre. Within the cooperation, the entire chain – from supplying the raw material and producing the fibre to making textiles and selling them – is organised in its entirety by the parties involved. The SaXcell fibre can be recycled many times. The result is an eco-friendly,100% recycled and endlessly recyclable product.
