Facilities
The three NewTexEco UAs’s – ArtEZ, Saxion and HvA – have workshops and labs that are important for our research. These include traditional and modern machines for various textile operations (weaving, knitting, etc.), but also 3D scanning equipment, for example.
In time, we want to make these labs accessible to students, teachers, researchers and partners of NewTexEco. This is not yet the case.
This section is still under development. Not all workshops, lab facilities and equipment are already listed here.

Bruker Alpha II Infrared Spectrometer
The Bruker Alpha II Infrared Spectrometer uses FTIR analysis to identify textile materials and finishes by analyzing their molecular structure. Contact: textiellab@saxion.nl
Mesdan Solarbox
The Mesdan Solarbox is used for colorfastness testing by simulating light exposure with xenon lamps, assessing a textile’s resistance to fading. Contact: textiellab@saxion.nl
Mesdan Crock Meter
The Mesdan Crock Meter tests colorfastness to abrasion, assessing the resistance of textiles to color transfer through friction. Contact: textiellab@saxion.nl
Mesdan Perspirometer
The Mesdan Perspirometer tests colorfastness to perspiration, water, and seawater, assessing a textile’s resistance to fading and staining under various conditions. Contact: textiellab@saxion.nl
Mesdan Spray Rating Tester
The Mesdan Spray Rating Tester evaluates a fabric’s resistance to water penetration, assessing its water repellency and liquid resistance. Contact: textiellab@saxion.nl
Mesdan Water Vapour Tester
The Mesdan Water Vapour Tester measures water vapour transmission through leather and coated fabrics, assessing breathability and moisture permeability. Contact: textiellab@saxion.nl
