Facilities
The three NewTexEco UAs’s – ArtEZ, Saxion and HvA – have workshops and labs that are important for our research. These include traditional and modern machines for various textile operations (weaving, knitting, etc.), but also 3D scanning equipment, for example.
In time, we want to make these labs accessible to students, teachers, researchers and partners of NewTexEco. This is not yet the case.
This section is still under development. Not all workshops, lab facilities and equipment are already listed here.

Mesdan Tensolab 1000 – 2516
The Mesdan Tensolab 1000 – 2516 is a tensile tester capable of performing traction, compression, tearing, seam slippage, bending, and fatigue tests. It complies with international testing standards and has a maximum capacity of 10 kN. Contact: textiellab@saxion.nl
Mesdan Elmatic Elmendorf Tear Strength Tester
The Mesdan Elmatic Elmendorf Tear Strength Tester is an automatic digital tear tester designed for a wide range of tear strength measurements, with a measuring range up to 30,000 cN. Contact: textiellab@saxion.nl
Mesdan Burstmatic
The Mesdan Burstmatic is a pneumatic bursting strength tester used to assess the bursting resistance and dynamic fatigue of woven, knitted, technical textiles, non-wovens, and leather. It measures the pressure required to burst a specimen and its distension height using laser technology. Contact: textiellab@saxion.nl
Martindale (Mesdan/James H. Heal)
The Martindale (Mesdan/James H. Heal) tester evaluates abrasion and pilling resistance on woven, knitted, non-woven fabrics, socks, gloves, and leather under dry and wet conditions. Contact: textiellab@saxion.nl
SDL Atlas Fabric Touch Tester
The SDL Atlas Fabric Touch Tester objectively measures fabric hand, assessing softness, smoothness, and warmth by analyzing compression, bending, heat flux, roughness, and friction. Contact: textiellab@saxion.nl
Leica and Projectina Optical Microscopes
