Troy Nachtigall
Dr.ir. Troy Nachtigall is professor of Fashion Research and Technology at UAS Amsterdam since 2020. His research on data for textile ecosystems is leading the fashion industry towards sustainability, circularity and regeneration. He focuses on computational craftsmanship, iterative life cycles and emerging technologies for product-service ecosystems. The research programme makes fashion more digital, personal and sustainable. Troy develops practical tools, software and frameworks and shares his findings in professional, educational and scientific circles. With over a decade of experience as a fashion designer in New York and Florence, Troy approaches fashion from a Research through Design perspective, developed in a Ph.D. in Materializing Data from TU/Eindhoven and postdoctoral research in Co-Design at Aarhus University. Nachtigall has also taught at IUAV University of Venice, ISIA Florence and Sapienza University of Rome, focusing on contributing his expertise to the next generation of fashion and design professionals.
