Erik van der Weerd

Erik van der Weerd is CEO at SaXcell. A chemical engineer, he spent 10 years leading new manufacturing and design at international companies. After this, he worked for 25 years as general manager in his family company Wevotex. The SaXcell concept fascinated him from the start and in 2019 he became increasingly involved when Wevotex became one of the new shareholders and he was offered a position on the SaXcell board. After former CEO Gerrit Bouwhuis decided to step down after a long intensive career, he asked Erik to take over as CEO. Erik’s goal for SaXcell is to make a substantial and measurable sustainability impact by making our innovative SaXcell fibres from discarded textiles.
