Elise van der Laan

Elise van der Laan is Associate Professor Fashion & Design Research at ArtEZ and a cultural sociologist. She received her PhD from the University of Amsterdam for a study on aesthetic standards in fashion photography, a comparative study across six countries and three decades. She has published on topics such as fashion and identity, aesthetic standards, sustainable fashion and cultural fields. Besides her work as a researcher, she works in the fashion industry, as a sustainability manager.
