NewTexEco’s 3D knit Summer School 2025

Are you a professional, student or teacher with an affinity for knitting and want to learn a new technique? In this 5-day Summer School from July 7 – 11, 2025 at the Benno Premselahuis in Amsterdam, the principles of 3D WholeGarment knitting will be covered (in NL/ENG) by teacher and the lab coordinator of NewTexEco Leslie Eisinger.

Depending on the participants, programming will be covered a little further. If you have already attended a Summer or Winter School, this is a good opportunity for deepening!

In previous editions, a fisherman’s sweater was knitted. This time a garment will be knitted using different techniques. We will work in two groups of 3 students and each group will make a garment. This means plenty of collaboration and learning from each other.

The program of 2025

Day 1: Introduction and familiarization
The first day is devoted to getting acquainted and an introduction to programming with SDS ONE APEX4 and Shima Seiki wholegarment knitting.

Day 2: Development and programming.
On the second day, we will dive into programming and there will be plenty of sample patches knitted. These sample patches will later become the basis for your own garment.

Day 3: experimenting
This day is all about experimentation. We encourage you to try out new knitting techniques and concepts. This creative freedom provides space to think outside your usual knitting lines and develop unique designs.

Day 4: garment development
We will continue with the sample patches from Day 2, and perhaps experiments from Day 3. These will be assembled into a garment, programmed and then knitted.

Day 5: Finishing garment and presentation
In the morning, we will complete our projects. In the afternoon everyone will have the opportunity to present their work and reflect on the knowledge and experience gained. Of course while enjoying a drink.

Cost and application
