Make Your Own Jeans Workshop
In this one-of-a-kind workshop, you’ll learn everything there is to know about denim – from its rich history to its role in sustainability, circularity, and innovation. Under the expert guidance of our master tailors, you’ll craft your very own jeans, from selecting fabrics to stitching the final seam.
Previous experience is not required. We provide all materials and supplies; participants need only attend with an open and interested attitude. Coffee and tea will be available.
Part of the Care & Repair project
This workshop is part of the Care & Repair research project, which focuses on extending the life of clothes: one of the most effective ways to reduce the ecological impact of fashion. We ask you to document your experiences with the jeans during the time, for example in the form of a short diary or a photo summary; the form is up to you.
In October 2026 and 2027, we invite you to bring back your jeans temporarily for a special exhibition. Don’t worry: after the exhibition, you will of course get them back.
Would you like to participate?
Write a short motivation about why you would like to participate and send it by 15 December 2025 to: keepingitlocal-frt@hva.nl
You can also attend this workshop the second part of the week: from 7 to 9 January 2026.
Location: House of Denim, Hannie Dankbaarpassage 22, 1053 RT Amsterdam
