Knitwear Lab – 5-day industrial knitting course
Discover the world of industrial knitting in this intensive, hands-on 5-day course, offered by Knitwear Lab in Almere. Whether you are new to machine knitting or want to deepen your expertise, this course provides a hands-on foundation in designing, programming and producing industrial knitwear – with a strong focus on sustainability and innovation.
Who is it for?
This course is designed for designers, product developers, teachers, students and professionals working in fashion, footwear, technical textiles or related sectors who want to understand industrial knitwear from the inside out. No programming experience is required.
What will you learn?
Over five days, you will gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience of the entire knitwear development process: You will work directly with industry-standard STOLL ADF and 530HP knitting machines at the Knitwear Lab in Almere. You will learn the basics of the Create Plus programming software. You will translate design ideas into stitch structures, patterns and textures. You will develop a personal sample library with different yarns and learn how fibre choices affect both performance and durability. You will learn how to communicate effectively with knitwear manufacturers, suppliers and technicians. You will also get an introduction to Adobe tools for implementing designs in knitted jacquards.
About Knitwear Lab
Knitwear Lab is a leading studio in industrial knitwear design, research and production, based in Almere (20 minutes from Amsterdam). For years, they have been developing innovative and sustainable knitwear solutions for brands in the fashion, footwear, medical and technical textile sectors. Their experienced team of programmers and designers provide the courses and transfer in-depth practical knowledge directly.
Programme and costs
The 5-day course takes place Monday to Friday, from 09:30 to 17:00. The next course date is: 20-24 April 2026 – Basic Course. The course fee is €1,350 (excluding VAT) and includes the KL Course Book, all material costs and daily lunch.
