CLOTHING REPAIR WORKSHOP
Are you done feeling like you have to ‘buy’ something over and over again? On Black Friday, the Care & Repair research project offers a different kind of activity: just work together with what you already have. No raging discounts, no full bags, but attention, craftsmanship and a little peace and quiet.
During this workshop, you will learn simple but valuable repair techniques that will make your clothes last longer. We work with leftover materials and sample watches from the industry, so you not only practice, but also learn how to turn waste into something useful. It is an accessible way to gain knowledge and connect with people who also believe that repairing things is worthwhile.
We will also set up a Fashion Confession Booth. There, you can, completely voluntarily, confess why you never really repair your clothes, or share anything else on your mind related to care and repair. Maybe there’s a pair of trousers that has been hanging in your closet for years because of a stubborn stain. Or perhaps you have items lying around that you’ve, well… simply forgotten about.
And to be clear: participating does not cost you anything. Just drop in.
Extra information about the location: the workshop is in the greenhouse in the central hall of the Kohnstammhuis, Wibautstraat 2-4 in Amsterdam.
