Chromatic Relations – Ecologies of Local Colors

In the exhibition Chromatic Relations – Ecologies of Local Colors, Waag presents ten years of TextileLab’s research into natural dyes. From plants and minerals to algae, mosses, and soil: these materials, often found in urban environments, are used as pigment, paint, or ink. This exhibition invites us to see the city differently—not as a concrete jungle, but as a living ecosystem full of color potential.

Extra: Textile heritage city walk on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September at 12:00. Guided by Huibert Teekens along places connected to Amsterdam’s textile history, through façade stones, street names, old maps, and more.

Note: the exhibition is closed on Monday 22 September.

The exhibition runs during GLUE Amsterdam and is part of the RE Nature Festival from 23 to 28 September.

Why it’s relevant for NewTexEco relations:
Partner Samira Boon is involved in this project, which perfectly aligns with our mission to connect textiles, dyes, and ecology. For those interested in natural dyes, circular design, and the role of urban ecosystems in material innovation, this exhibition is well worth a visit.
