Eva de Laat

Eva de Laat is a textile designer, researcher and founder of Studio Eva de Laat and Materialliance. She works at the intersection of material innovation, design and industrial knitting technology, with a strong specialisation in seamless and circular knitting.

From studios in the Netherlands and China, she collaborates with international brands, yarn manufacturers, machinery manufacturers and knowledge partners on the development of new materials, constructions and applications for sectors including sportswear, performance, interiors and mobility.

Central to her work is the question of how materials, yarns, knitting techniques and construction can collectively create new functionality and sensory properties. Her research focuses, amongst other things, on bio-based and natural materials, mono-materials and circularity, functional textile structures, and translating experimental materials research into industrially scalable applications.
