Dutch Design Week: Design Innovation Sessions – Thriving Planet
How can digitalisation and innovation contribute to a circular textile and fashion sector? This question will be the focus of CLICKNL’s Design Innovation Sessions 2026: Thriving Planet.
NewTexEco is contributing to the programme as part of the Digital Product Passport(s) for Circular Denim project. Jirka Rajme-Mendez, from our research group, and Borre Akkersdijk, founder of and partner at BYBORRE, share their perspectives on the development of a more circular textile supply chain.
The smart weaving mill
The session ‘The smart weaving mill’ focuses on the question of how local and small-scale innovations can develop into an economic system that operates on a larger scale. In this context, digitalisation is not seen as a threat to craftsmanship, but as a means of enabling new production models and making added value measurable.
The contribution from DPP4Circular Denim is in line with NewTexEco’s broader ambition to link digital innovation to the transition towards a circular and regenerative textile sector. The project is investigating how digital product information and Digital Product Passports can contribute to greater transparency and circular value chains.
The Design Innovation Sessions also provide an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences with professionals from the creative industries, academia and the business world.
