An Evening on the Amstel: Gen Z, fashion and the influence of AI

How well do we actually understand the youngest generation of consumers? And what role do data, social media and AI play in predicting and influencing purchasing behaviour? These questions will be the focus of the next edition of Avond aan de Amstel.

‘Evening on the Amstel’ is a platform for critical dialogue on current developments in the textile and fashion sector. The worlds of education, research and professional practice come together to exchange knowledge and discuss current issues.

Does Gen Z actually exist?

Many fashion brands are trying once again to connect with Generation Z. But does their purchasing behaviour really differ from that of previous generations? Or is the need to understand this target group primarily a way of influencing consumer behaviour? And what role can artificial intelligence play in this?

Led by Stephany Goncalves (strategic adviser and researcher, AMFI) and Dr Marco Mossinkoff (marketing and sociology, AMFI), experts from the worlds of research and practice will engage in a discussion on these themes.

The speakers are:

  • Laura Bas, a generational expert and author of *The GenZclopaedia*; a representative of My Jewellery, which is successfully catering to Gen Z with a community-first strategy;
  • Luna Sourkhan, a designer at Banlieue, where fashion, culture and community come together.
