Anton Luiken

Anton Luiken (1959) studied organic chemistry in Nijmegen before starting his professional career at TNO’s textile department in 1986. Over the years, he held a variety of positions in both research and management, and from 1998 to 2007 he was vice-president of Textranet. In 2008, he founded his own consulting firm, Alcon Advies, with a focus on textiles and sustainability. From this office, he has contributed to numerous national and international projects and roadmap studies.

In 2010, he played a key role in the development of the Modint Ecotool, one of the first offline life-cycle assessment (LCA) tools focused specifically on textiles. A decade later, in 2020, he co-founded bAwear Score, an online platform for calculating LCAs based on a proprietary textile model. bAwear provides a quick and cost-effective method to map the environmental impact of textile products, to support both compliance with EU regulations including digital product passports (DPP) and impact reporting and the development of strategies to reduce that impact.

Besides his work for bAwear and Alcon Advies, Anton Luiken is also active in education, where he supervises master students ITD (Innovative Textile Development) at Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede.
