Future Textiles – Connecting for Progress

From 19-27 March, during Circular Economy Week, Future Textiles is putting the connection between sustainability and innovation centre stage to accelerate the transition to a circular, bio-based and local textile system. More than 50 years ago, the Club of Rome warned of resource depletion in The Limits to Growth (1972). What seemed futuristic then is now reality. The urgency to develop both circular and bio-based materials is greater than ever.

Under the motto connecting for progress, we believe that the transition to a circular and bio-based textile system starts with local raw materials – from agricultural crops to textile residues – local production and a healthy balance between nature and human intervention. By connecting farmers, sorters, processors, designers, entrepreneurs and users, we accelerate this movement.

Check out the inspiring and diverse programme on the Fibershed van site and come along too! Among other things, you will find a lab tour at Saxion and a factory tour at Enschede Textile City.

Future Textiles is an initiative of Stichting Fibershed Nederland, developed in cooperation with Stichting Natuur en Milieu Overijssel and Week van de Circulaire Economie. Future Textiles is financially supported by Triodos Foundation and Province of Overijssel.
