Sarah-Lieve Dam

Sarah-Lieve Dam is a designer and researcher with a curiosity about textiles and the processes behind them. She studied Product Design at ArtEZ Arnhem, where she discovered how research and making reinforce each other. From making, she investigates materials and systems – from growing flax into linen to applying knitting techniques in architecture. She immerses herself in production processes and fields to understand how they function and where opportunities for application or change lie, making textiles challenged by context each time.

As a junior researcher at NewTexEco, she works on the Care & Repair project, which investigates the maintenance and repair behaviour of clothing to extend its lifespan. Outside her work as a researcher, she is a designer and is setting up a workshop with former classmates, with the ambition of filling it with textile machines to develop new work while making.
