Arnhem is sustainable fashion city. But what does sustainable fashion actually mean? And why is this focus so essential?

We as NewTexEco have been invited to participate in this conversation. This gives us the opportunity to talk more about the need we see for an interdisciplinary approach: technology, market as well as design (education). We believe in a holistic approach – and we are strongly committed to it.

Textile Surgery
In this section, we go beyond just talking. We take you into the story behind your clothes – from origin to final destination. Have you ever heard of textile surgery? Watch the video below and read more about it here . During this programme, Tjeerd Veenhoven and Mirte Engelhard analyse a visitor’s garment for textile type, origin, use story and sustainability. Many people want to make more conscious choices, but lack information about where their clothes come from. Thereby, some designations are misleading, think vegan leather for example. Sounds sustainable, but we are talking about plastic here!
