Frank Kresin

Dr Frank Kresin was appointed Chair of the Executive Board at ArtEZ University of the Arts in March 2026. In this role, Kresin will be responsible for education and research at ArtEZ and will ensure a strong link between the research process and education within the academies. His career lies at the intersection of art, technology and education. Since 2019, Frank has served as Dean of the Faculty of Digital Media and Creative Industries at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. There, he developed a coherent educational and research practice in which creativity, digitalisation and social relevance reinforce one another.

In 2017 and 2018, he was Managing Director of the DesignLab at the University of Twente. Prior to that, he spent ten years at Waag Futurelab, seven of which as Research Director. He has a background as a filmmaker, holds a university degree in AI, and has worked at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Digital University. He was involved in the launch of a large number of research programmes and projects at the intersection of art, science and technology and is closely involved in the themes of Digital Social Innovation, Citizen Science, Critical Making and Responsible Design. Frank served on the board of ISOC NL for six years and currently sits on the boards of The Mobile City and Tetem.
